Six Arrests, One Family, and a System That Keeps Looking the Other Way

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In Glynn County, one mother and her two small children show that awareness means nothing without action.
On Wednesday, October 14, Billy Roger McQueen was arrested again. This time the charges are domestic violence, simple battery, cruelty to children, and damage to property.
According to the victim, she was trying to leave with her two children in the car when McQueen held her against her will. She says he then threw sweet tea on her and the children, spit in her face, and tried to break the back glass of the car as she attempted to drive away.
A record that speaks for itself
This was not his first arrest. It marked his sixth domestic violence charge in less than a year.
Six domestic violence crimes. Against the same family. In under twelve months.
The question this case raises is not about one man. It is about what happens between arrest number one and arrest number six — and why a pattern that visible in booking records did not produce a different outcome somewhere along the way.
The Local Lowdown is continuing to review the booking records and court history in this case.
